Winning Start for Morton At George Rooney Phoenix GP

UCD Cycling’s Eoin Morton started his 2016 season in style winning the George Rooney Phoenix GP in Antrim today. Aided by teammates Ian Richardson and Loius Carnac Morton took the honours from Adam Armstrong (Wheelworx-ASEA) in a sprint finish.

The A1 bunch bridged the 2.5 minute handicap to the A2 riders at the halfway point the in the race with Morton going clear with a group of 4 until the final 5km. A group of 10 A1 & A2 riders battled it out to the finish with Morton and Armstrong dueling it out for the win.

“I’m delighted the win” said Morton. “I started last year’s season with a second place, so I really wanted the win here today” added the UCD man.
